A Challenge.
This year has been the year I do the scary shit that I told myself I could never do.
From what I have chose to talk about on stage, to what I have DONE on stage, and most important, how I have bettered myself OFF stage.
They all tie together.
You don’t set creative goals to become a famous TikTok personality.
Sorry.
Good people don’t set creative goals to become a famous TikTok personality.
You set creative goals to become a more creative person which makes you a better person.
Example:
If you can’t standup for yourself creatively where there are literally no limitations, how in the fuck do you standup for yourself while constrained in this real world cesspool of dogshit?**
**Gods beautiful creation.
You don’t.
Art is where you learn to take risks. Learn that your voice matters. Your story packs a punch. All of that.
Last night I did that in Austin. I took improv to a standup club. Did positive but edgy shit in the downtown scene that isn’t always positive. Put people up on stage who have never played a club. Let people in for free who couldn’t afford it. And packed out a show with a mental health trauma theme. People who literally told me they didn’t want to leave their house came out and laughed.
THAT HASN’T BEEN DONE BEFORE. Every single one of those examples (which shouldn’t be that big a deal) people told me not to do. But I did it. And the next one I want to take even more chances, be even weirder. Maybe it won’t work. Maybe it will be fucking awesome.
Today? I FEEL FUCKING AWESOME. I have been a good partner, A GREAT cat dad, a good friend, I have plotted and planned, I have been honest with myself about what I need, I have taken MASSIVE swings and chances, all the while I have been CRASHING from this show. But because I am happy, I am being nice to myself and not pushing too hard.
All in all, the creative risks made my human life better.
How do you do this?! Well!
I have been mentoring a few writers the last month, and hearing their stories and what has stopped them from being creative has inspired me to do more teaching.

We can do 1-1 but if I get a bunch of people who don’t have a ton of money we can join voices and do it as a community!
Sending love and aloha.
